Lord Krishna vs Gandhiji :- Why for some Indians Gandhiji may not be Father of Nation

The Most popular Indians are Lord Krishna , Lord Ram

,Mahatma Gandhiji and of course Sachin Tendulkar

"Mahatma Gandhiji" will most probably come after Lord Krishna and Lord Ram

Each and every kid is told the the virtues of Mahatma which is truth , honesty and Ahimsa . Though sadly in India Bhagavad Gita and other great India scriptures are discouraged to be taught at Schools (ThoughQuran , Bible may be taught and are also encouraged )

Gandhiji's Non co-operation movement and quit India movement is the mostpublicizedpolitical strategy in both pre independence and post independence era . There is no such movement which united people in such a manner ever since . Some may argue that the rath yatra but L.K.Advaniji also had same impact . But it was only one community

People may argue that Gandhiji is notrelevanttoday and is of nopoliticaluse which is absolutely wrong . The congressgovernmentwhich was in power (still is) for more than 50 years despite very littledevelopmentis only due to the fact that Gandhiji represented congress and it arguably won independence to India

So when i ask people why they call Gandhiji Mahatma , why he is father of nation ?. I got the following answes

a) He is called Mahatma since he treated every body the same , he preached and followed Non Violence (Ahimsa) b) He is called father of Nation for the obvious reason that he got Independencefor India

These gave the doubts , did he always follow Non Violence and is non violence the right method Since i'm astaunchfollower of Lord Krishna another thingcrepedup my mind , if Lord Krishna tells go to war to protect people why we should not have fought the British with violence and won over Independence .

It is also important to note that there were many attacks on Hindus byMuslimsin which hundreds of people women were raped andconverted, yet Gandhiji remained silent . But when Hindus retaliated , Gandhiji preached peace and went on fast on numerousoccasions asking Hindus to restrain.

First we will concentrate on the Last point of Lord Krishna vs Gandhi approach It is much more intriguing since Gandhiji many times said that he derived inspiration from Bhagavad Gita .

Bhagavad Gita is a poem recited by the god himself to Arjuna (one of 5 Pandavas) who refused to fight in battle citing reasons such as 1) If he kills whatbenefithe will get other than beingsinned forlife 2) There are relatives , cousins , gurus on the opposite sides 3)He will die unarmed rather than kill his own people

Lord Krishna through his saying convinces Arjuna to Stand up and fight for Dharmah When confronted with the question that isn't violence bad and isn't Ahimsa paramo Dharmah , Lord answers that violence in service of Dharmah is also equal to Ahimsa

The Situation of the Mahabaratha and Pre Independence India are Strikingly similar Both have a situation where a peace loving kingdom (nation) is occupied forcefully by a outsider , Kauravas in Mahabaratha and England in other case .

Both the outsiders got support from people who are related to the Good ones . Teachers and cousins in Mahabarath and Muslims in Pre independence india .

Both involved pride and passion .

If majority of the situations are correctable , why a learned man such as Gandhi would opt for Ahimsa , though the exact opposite was preached by Lord Krishna .

Did Gandhi get the message of Bhagavan Krishna wrong ? Some may ask whether Krishna was wrong in preaching Violence ?

The Argument in favour of Gandhiji can be made is that even though there are such similarities there was a Striking difference .

The Pandavas and Kauravas are reasonably of same strength in the key area of Military and Strategy while India was far behind British when it comes to military capabilities

While others may argue that how can one come to the conclusion with out even testing it .

In this one Gandhiji may be right in choosing the ahimsa route .

The Second Controversial thing about Gandhiji is his sometime unconditional support to muslims even when they did inhuman things such as Murder , Rape , destroying of property

Many Hindus still have the scars of pre independence violence still within them , and fell betrayed by Gandhiji's un conditional support to them

There are also sections of people who feel that he is the main reason for splitting Bharat into 1/3rd and 2/3rd . 1/3rd of our homeland has become alien to us .

Even after Pakistan was split from India , Gandhiji still wanted Indian government to Hand over 550 million rupees toPakistan . This lead to much anger and animosity among young Hindus which culminated in hisassassinationin 1948

So is Gandhiji right in supporting theMuslimsand what did Bhagavad Gita say about punishing the wicked .

Bhagavad gita's main principle according to me is that one who watches an adharmic action and fails to act against it incurs half the sin of the one who performs the adharmic action . As mentioned above it also says that violence in support of Dharmah is also Dharmah . In a nutshell if anaction even though violent reduces the overall violence it will not be considered as a sin .

Bhagavan Krishna tells to Arjuna that there are only two types of men in the world . One is called Devada and another one is called Asura . Devada as name suggests is a harmless person who believes in peace and love towards fellow living creatures . While Asura is quite the opposite . Asura is defined as person who commits either one or some or all of the six sins which are listed below .

They say that this world is unreal, without a moral basis, without aGod, not conforming to any settled moral order. It is just caused bydesire, and exists only for enjoyments.

Holding fast to this view, these lost beings of feeble understanding

and cruel deeds rise up as enemies of the world for its destruction.

Giving themselves thus to insatiable desire, full of hypocrisy, excessive pride and arrogance, holding wrong views throughdelusions, they act with impure resolves.

Obsessed with innumerable desires which would only end withdestruction, looking upon the gratification of desires as the highestaim, assured that this is all there is;

Bound by hundreds of ties of desire, given over to lust and anger,they strive to amass hoards of wealth, by unjust means, forgratification of their desires;

Bhagvad Gita, Chapter XVI Verses 6 through 14

In thesummarizedformAsurain Indian Puranas, essentially captures this behavior this ability to violate Dharma, by committing acts such as attacking, killing, robbing and torturing people, without any act of provocation on the part of those who are being victimized.

So whatMuslimsdid was they plundered our land & wealth , killed our people , Raped our women and converted the weak to Islam .

So the acts of Muslims in India (evenacrossthe world) essentially falls under the category of a Asura

So Asura's are liable to be punished . It will be Adharma if they are not punished

Gandhiji may be right in following the Ahimsa way in case of British , even though the British will also fall under the definition of Asura because there was a huge Military advantage for British and Thousands of lives would have been lost if we went the violent way with British

Gandhiji was wrong in supporting Muslims as per Bhagavad Gita People will contend that how come a person who has not followed a Hindu scripture namely Bhagavad Gita which was given to Man by God himself can ever be a Father of Nation with majority being Hindus .It may lead young Indians into not following the sayings of God . Will a person not following quran be made the head if a Islam country or a person who contradicts Bible be made the head of western country ? The answer may be NO

Will we incur half the sin since we were (are) watching an Adharmic action and still doing nothing ?

May be we will incur , but one thing is sure . If god has ever come to the world it would have been for the Hindus , if he ever comes again it will also be for the Hindus alone . Because we alone as a religion have shown immense maturity and has truly understood god real message which is peace and love for fellow living creatures and not just humans even though they have butchered our religion .

Continue to show the love & Peace and the time for Krishna to come will arrive shortly

Proud to be a Hindu !!!

Jai Shri Ram
