4. Do stop eating so much sugar. That includes drinking fruit juices on a regular basis. Too much sugar causes your body to stop the detoxification process which builds additional fat cells in the liver, keeping it from functioning right. This results in a transfer of stubborn fat cells to the abdomen. This is the last thing you want.
5. Do exercise more than an hour a week. You can't just exercise one hour a week and take the remainder of the week off. The road to achieving flat abs is steady exercise. Also, exercising different muscle groups for balance is important. It takes perspiration to really burn the belly fat. Find something you like doing but don't get involved just for the sake of it. Stay with the program as much as you can. Avoid the perfectionist syndrome. Set realistic goals and realize you will probably want a glass of wine or piece of cake sometimes.
6. Do eat smaller meals several times a day. You perhaps hear people say they eat one meal a day but they never lose weight. Here is why. When you eat one big meal in the afternoon, you are guaranteed to keep each calorie. Whatever calories remain get turned into fat. So take your big meal and try to divide it into smaller portions and eat them throughout the day.
