Aerobic exercise strengthens the heart muscle reducing the resting heart rate, increases muscle endurance and the metabolic rate of the body. It also improves the ability of the muscles to use fats during exercise.
Exercise can be dehydrating to the body and drinking plenty of water is a necessity. When muscle cells are hydrated, it increases the body's ability to burn fat and can also help suppress the appetite.
Proper diet is very important to maintain muscles. Eat a well balanced diet that is full of fruits and vegetables, protein-rich foods like chicken, turkey, eggs, lean meats, healthy fats, low fat dairy, and healthy fibre. Eating several small meals a day keeps the metabolism going and the blood sugar levels even.
Moreover, it is also vital to get enough sleep to allow muscle growth; since muscles develop and grow during sleeping time. If you deprive your body of sufficient amount of sleep, your muscles may not be able to grow faster that it should be. Get plenty of rests and sleep; at least 8 to 10 hours per day to get significant results.
It is possible to melt away fat without losing too much muscle tissue. However, you need to learn to do it right to avoid getting it wrong.
