1. Choose one thing to change about your diet or exercise specifically geared towards belly fat. This could be cutting back on sugar or alcohol in your diet. It could also be adding in one more day a week of exercise or lengthening or intensifying your current workout routine.

2. Get rid of the junk food - if your shelves are currently filled with cookies, chips ad other diet bombs, stash them out of sight - or better yet, throw then into the rubbish bin. Then hit the store to stock up on healthy foods like fresh fruits and veggies, low fat yogurt, lean meats, whole grains, oat-meals and nuts. These foods are simply better for you. However, the occasional treat - like once a week will not harm you - it can be motivating.

3. Eat 4-5 times a day in small quantities: This helps control your diet and keeps you energized through the day.

4. Your diet needs a total make-over if you ever want to get rid of your tummy fat. First off, you have to spring clean your cupboards and fridge, and take out all the cheat foods. Then once you have done that, make sure that you stock it with healthy, diet friendly foods. And make sure that you stick to eating only those foods.

5. Carbs are plentiful and readily available but you don't have to drastically reduce carbs. Choose the good kinds of natural carbs over the processed kinds - better yet, think fiber, not carbs. Focus on a high fiber fitness meals. Why? Fiber simply simply keeps you full longer. The key is to focus your carb intake from fruits, vegetables and whole-grain products, which are loaded with loads of nutrients, complex carbs and stomach filling fiber!

6. Keep track of your progress in your journal. Try a method for a couple of weeks, and if it is too hard to stick to, try something else. Be gentle with yourself and take time to take care of yourself and tell yourself things about your body that you like.

7. Make sure your plan is an effective one: No matter how much exercise and diet you do, unless you don't have an effective plan you won't be able to lose fat around the belly.
