Visitors to Paris will no doubt choose the French capital for romance, fine dining or to sample many of the city's cultural hotspots. And tourists touching down in the Big Apple will expect nothing less than a sprawling metropolis with a bright lights, big city buzz that continues around the clock.
Indeed, classic cities set the expectations before you even arrive. And Las Vegas is one such city, where visitors know what they're getting when they book their flights but with such expectations, some might argue that this can only lead to disappointment.
However, the so-called Entertainment Capital of the World is one of the few places that does in fact live up to its reputation, and few people leave the city having had anything less than a fantastic time. So, what delights does Las Vegas hold for tourists and what exactly is it that attracts a staggering forty million visitors each year?
Well, let's start with the obvious - the first thing you'll notice is the abundance of casinos in Las Vegas, with hundreds to choose from. And with a mind-boggling 100,000 thousand hotel rooms at your disposal, it's safe to say that visitors are well catered for.
Indeed, it's possible to get some great accommodation deals in Las Vegas, as the casino/hotel complexes like to tempt people in with reasonably priced rooms, so that you go and spend your money on the slot machines, poker tables, roulette...and the countless other gambling endeavours.
Don't worry though, if betting isn't your thing, then Las Vegas is still a fantastic place to visit for four or five days. Those who want to limit their time in the casinos to a night or two will be delighted to know that there's plenty to do in this spellbinding city.
Las Vegas is bursting at the seams with variety acts, magic shows, rock concerts, festivals, musicals, ballet...just about every kind of live performance you care to think of.
And when you're done being entertained, there are few better places than Vegas for fine cuisine. A wealth of world-renowned chefs ply their trade in Sin City', and whether you're looking for a good old-fashioned American steak, seafood, pizza, paella or an all-you-can-eat buffet, you'll definitely find something to fit your mood...and your appetite.
