Heart disease is still the number one cause of death in our great country the United States of America and the best way to meet this head on is to lower our cholesterol. There is bad and good cholesterol. Good cholesterol is called hdl and the bad cholesterol is ldl.

I urge you to get your cholesterol checked and see what ranges you are in for both. The total should not be more the 200 mg/dL. The good or hdl should be more than 60 mg/dL and the bad or ldl should be below 100 mg/dL. Please consult your doctor on all this information because specifics are unique.

There are two simple things you can do to maintain a good cholesterol level and this can start today. These are simple things and we should do them if we have high ldl cholesterol levels or if we do not. They are exercise and eating right.

We now know that exercise will help in lowering ldl cholesterol levels. This happens because exercise stimulates enzymes and this carries ldl from the blood to our liver. This is then turned into bile and is exits our body through normal waste. I researched this because my family has a history of heart disease.

The second way is to eat right. Get plenty of fruits and vegetables. This actually lowers cholesterol. Stay away from red meat and fast food places. White meat is much better for you.
