Engineers for Consumer Reports took this well-used Prius through the paces that new cars are required to endure, checking for fuel economy and performance. When these test result from the Prius with 207,000 miles on it were compared to the results of an identical model tested when it was new, the results were amazing.

The other end of the equation is that if a battery pack for a Prius does need to be replaced, it's much cheaper than we have often been led to believe. A used battery pack, apparently easy to find, will run about $500, while the new ones can run from $2,200-2,600. But the magazine tells us that a used one will do just fine.
