Another thing about meals prior to 1819, women, and commoners were not permitted to eat some of the things that were eaten by the King or male counterparts either. These foods included, but were not limited to pork, bananas, and coconuts. There was much merriment when the luau changed all that. And, no wonder!

At a luau, you will not only dine for several hours. This is an event that you will enjoy traditional Hawaiian music as well as some activities. At the festivities, you will be entertained by native Hawaiian musicians that play on instruments that include bamboo pipes, drums, and guitars.

It was once put on to celebrate a birthday or commemoration of a coronation or another prestigious event. A luau is not something that happens everyday in Hawaii and villagers from all over gather for this event. It is definitely something that a tourist will not want to miss.
