The Ruaha is great for its large populations of elephant, buffalo, greater and lesser kudu, hippo, crocodile and of course for its stunning scenery.
With mighty rivers, lakes and forests and expanses of plains the Selous and Ruaha are vast and home to millions of animals. These lush havens support flourishing wildlife numbers are surprisingly infrequently visited so are perfect for a safari slightly off the beaten track.
Southern Tanzania offers the chance to safari in different ways. You can explore its remote habitats both by a game drive across the plains and walking safari with your armed guide, there is also the opportunity to explore by river boat along the Rufigi river.
The best time to visit Southern Tanzania for your safari is June to October with cooler dry weather and the best chance of seeing game as it congregates around the shrinking waterholes.
