If you have completed your BCA or graduation in any other related discipline, studying MCA is a favored option for you. This is a full-time degree course of 3years (usually divided into six semesters). Studying Master of Computer Applications makes you skilled in computational theory, programming, algorithm design, database management, and other related fields. Students must have computer science, mathematics or statistics as a subject at the 10+2 level. The degree of MCA offers good career opportunities. Part time courses are also available in most of the private MCA colleges and computer institutes.

Many MCA Institute, colleges and universities all over India offer courses in MCA. The selection process for these courses is very hard. Candidates with excellent academic results with a flair for the computers can easily pass through the selection process. Almost all the universities offer these courses and the pattern of the syllabus is the same everywhere. The selection of the candidates is dependant on passing the written test and the personal interview. The MCA course includes 26 instructional courses and 14 practicals for 5 semesters and project work and seminars in the 5th and the last semester of the year. Industrial visits constitute the main portion of the last i.e. the 6th semester.
