MLM Prospecting Mastery: Five Skills Of A Master MLM Prospector


On a regular basis I get told by fellow network marketers that they wish they were a master network marketing prospector. Well, I want you to know that anybody can be a master network marketing prospector. The main requirements are a little time and a lot of practice! Nonetheless, there are a few attributes that you can improve that will infinitely guide you on your MLM journey and support you in accomplishing MLM Mastery.

After all my years in the MLM industry, I've learned there are 5 Shared Qualities of Master MLM Prospectors: Passion, Consistency, Communication, Being Prepared and Being Positive.

Skill #1: Passion You MUST have a SERIOUS passion for Freedom, your Product and Helping others.

Having a genuine passion is definitely the most powerful attribute on the list. Without a strong passion for your product, this industry, the freedom it can provide and helping people attain that freedom, then you really shouldn't be in the MLM industry.

What you need to figure out is what turned you on to your company and its product, then take that same passion and share it with others. Talk with other product users and take note of success stories within your company. You need to use the product and success testimonies to convey your passion. Keep in mind, people are initially attracted to your passion before they are attracted to your product or company.

Skill #2: Consistency It is a requirement to be consistent with your network marketing business each day.

Being consistent is undeniably a fundamental factor to your success. Another way to think about it is, if you are a doctor but only perform 7 out of 10 surgeries accurately, how long do you think you would be in practice? Not very long! You will become very consistent when you start treating the $500 start-up cost for your MLM business like it was $500,000 or even $5 Million!

Far too many people begin a network marketing business and subsequently don't put in the time and energy needed to be successful, however, they are still expecting the huge pay off. That pay off will ONLY come when you think of your business like a business and work it every day. Putting in consistent effort doesn't involve another eight hours a night when you get off, but devising an Action Plan and sticking to it works.

You need to set a Minimum Daily Exposure (MDE) number for yourself. If you are working this very part-time and can only put in a few hours each week, then I would recommend beginning with 3 MDEs. What you aim to work up to is between 10 and 15 new people exposed to your network marketing business every day.

If you really want your passion for your MLM business to grow, run the numbers about what having a MDE will do for your business. This leads to success. It does not matter if your are building your MLM business online, offline or a combination of the two, your action plan is a simple formula that works.

Skill #3: Communication Connect, Communicate and Follow Up!

Communication is crucial for connecting with your leads. You ought to have at bare minimum contact once a week, no matter if that lead was generated online or offline.

One word of caution, though. There is a fine line between bugging and following up. Bear in mind, developing a relationship is key to successful sponsoring. So you DO NOT want to be pitching your network marketing business every time. You need to actually connect with those prospects you are interested in working with. Ask them how their business is going, remember birthdays, ask about their family. Keep in mind, it is all about getting to know your prospect.

With an offline MLM lead, you will want to follow up when there is a local meeting, a new tool or product.

With an online MLM prospect this becomes easy because you should have an auto-responder sending out letters every few days.

What communication does is it keeps your name fresh in their mind. It is this follow up that helps you be the person they want to call if their financial situation changes.

Skill #4: Being Prepared You want to always have tools prepared and practice alert living.

In the midst of the economy now in shambles, unemployment at over 10% and the economic future still unsure, people are no longer condemning Network Marketing or MLM and the thought of being their own boss. For the reason that, they are willing to see Network Marketing as a method to make additional money.

Therefore you need to be armed with tools (literature, a CD, a DVD, etc) that you can give to your leads and you should be prepared to tell at least two product stories and two income stories.

The stories are vital because we are emotional creatures. People will relate better to stories than they do to facts. Stories give people the opportunity to discover more about either your product or your opportunity while you are face-to-face. Stories are something that people can become passionate about!

Furthermore, you need to be presentable anywhere you go (i.e. no pants around your butt or dressing like you are headed to the club). When you dress for success, you are primed to make something positive happen in your business.

Skill #5: Be Positive You have to be cheerful.

I realize that we all have down moments, but you never want to display that to your leads or your downline for that matter. People will be attracted to warm, happy, charismatic people. They don't want to have to be walking on eggshells around you. You want to be the person that is like the people you want to attract and sponsor into your business. After all birds of a feather and who needs to be in a group full of Debby Downers!

Take every one of these qualities and apply them. It is essential to NOT pick and choose, but incorporate every single one of them. When you do, your confidence about yourself and your business will begin to increase exponentially and just around the corner, you will find success and be on your way to MLM Mastery!
