MacBook Pro Repair: Replacing the Logic Board

The logic board is another name for the motherboard in the computer. It does exactly the same thing as the motherboard, like storing numerous critical system components, it just has a name. Of course, the logic board is an integral and high tech part of your computer. However, if the logic board in your computer is damaged, you may be somewhat reluctant to try to replace it by yourself. But it can be done with a little concentration and some of your time. Remove the power from your computer, turn it off, and turn it over. Take the battery out of its bay by pressing the 2 catches on both sides of the compartment, located in the center of the bottom of the computer that holds battery and lift the battery out. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, take the 3 screws out from the bottom of the compartment that holds the battery the compartment out. Return the computer to its upright position and take the 2 screws out that are located on the corners of the backside of the computer. Take out all of the remaining the screws on the three remaining sides of the computer. Carefully lift the top of the computer until the computer is separated from the housing. Lifting by the corners of the keyboard, remove it away from the body of the computer. You should now be able to see the green logic board. Disconnect the orange ribbon that connects the keyboard by carefully removing it from the board and set the keyboard aside. Disconnect the 2 wires that are connected to the sides of the logic board from the computer. To do this, insert the tip of a flat bladed screwdriver under the wire and carefully lift upwards. Using the tip of the flat bladed screwdriver, remove the yellow tape from the top of the logic board. Disconnect the video cable, which will be gold and thick, from the side of the board. Take out the ten screws on the logic board with the Phillips head screwdriver. There will be 2 in the middle and 8 on the sides. Carefully lift the board up and remove the power cable from its left side by carefully pulling it out. Since the last connection is now unplugged, you can remove and replace the board with a new one. Reassemble your computer in the reverse order you took it apart.
