MACKIES FARM: Mackies own a 16000 acre land in Aberdeenshire. Here fresh milk and power is produced to create the award winning ice-creams. This process is named design chain in which the wind provides power to the farm which in turn grows crops to feed Mackies cows which then provide milk to make the finest ice-cream.
MACKIES DESIGN CHAIN: Mackies have their own renewable energy supply through wind turbines. Its first turbine was installed in 2005. And to date it has three wind turbines. These turbines generate more power then the farm business requires. Moreover this energy produced is economic, good for the environment, safe and importantly renewable. The investment in the wind turbines makes good business sense as well as good financial sense.
FLAVOURS: Mackies traditional ice-cream remains a favourite of consumers. It is creamy, smooth and freash, with a natural creamy taste. This traditional ice-cream is special mainly because it has no added flavour, not even vanilla. Another reason is that it is the base ingredient in creating several other Mackies ice-cream flavours. There are wide variety of sauces which are added in ripples or chunks and pieces of fruits and chocolates which are added in the traditional ice-cream to create a variety of flavours.
Vanilla flavour is found in cream of scottish, which is a yellow cornish style ice-cream.
Another famous flavour of Mackies is honeycomb. This is s toffee flavour ice-cream which is created with molten honeycomb chips, whole milk and cream. More to this, there are no artificial flavours added. This is Mackies second best selling flavour after traditional.
Mackies also has a chocolate flavour which is a experience in itself. It is a smooth, creamy dairy ice-cream with Belgian chocolate flakes. The texture of this cocolate is made with milk , chocolate and soya.
There is another classic flavour with a blend of chocolate, namely, choc mint flavour. This is a creamy mint flavour ice-cream with flakes of chocolate. Rasberry ripple is another flavour whose base is traditional ice-cream. This has rasberry sauce ripple which adds a sweet jammy touch to the flavour. Then there is the traditional strawberry flavour and an organic ice-cream. The latter is made with organic ingredients.
