Do not program your visit to the museum on Mondays because it is closed.

The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum

Madrid is and has always been a cultural city; it is one of those cities that give a lot of attention to its history, its past, its customs and its traditions. The Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum is one of those museums that celebrate art and culture. You will find there 800 works dating back to the primitive Flemish period and works belonging to other periods including the contemporary one. Sculptures, paintings, tapestries and even carvings can be seen in the dozens of collections displayed by the museum, teaching tourists important lessons of art. As almost all the museums in Madrid, Thyssen-Bornemisza are closed on Mondays.

Reina Sofia Museum

This museum is a very special one in Madrid as it hosts permanent collections and also temporary ones. The permanent collections show the beauty and the importance of the Spanish art in the contemporary age. The temporary collections display works of art belonging to different domains: sculpture, painting, photography, video and even films. Unlike most of the museums in Madrid which are closed on Mondays, the Reina Sofia Museum is closed on Tuesdays.

Palacio Real

This ferienhaus costa blanca museum used to be the residence of the Royal Family; it no longer plays this role, so it was opened for public as a museum. The palace was left exactly as it was when the King was living there, so it represents a very important attraction for tourists. Not all the rooms are open for public but those that can be visited will impress you. The palace will also impress you with its special architecture and gardens of breathtaking beauty. The inside frescoes are the work of the famous Tiepolo while the walls are decorated with paintings belonging to Velasquez, El Greco, Goya and Rubens. The palace is available for visitors at any time of the day but if an official act is hosted by it, the gates are closed for the public.
