Mae Phim - The Home Of Some Of Thailand's Best Beaches

You can get to the beach resort of Mae Phim easily from central Bangkok - it is less than two hours away

. The nearby city of Pattaya attracts more tourists than Mae Phim, but the latter is more relaxed and more authentically Thai. Do not be fooled into thinking that because it is less crowded means that it has less to offer - far from it.

Mae Phim is an up and coming destination, which has only really tried to attract foreign tourists in the past few years. Foreign tourists first started to spend their vacations there a decade ago, but affluent Thais have been visiting for a much longer period of time. The beaches have always been beautiful, and there is now first class accommodation and attractions to supplement them.

Mae Phim offers wonderful beaches, with white sand and clear blue water. Though such beaches are not uncommon in Thailand, what makes the ones in Mae Phim different is the fact that they still remain totally unspoiled. They still retain their natural charm and beauty, and have not been excessively filled with deck-chairs, or over-run with hawkers.

Mae offers several great beaches for you to choose from. You could literally spend each day of your vacation on a different one if you wanted to. The beaches near the center of Mae Phim are busy, without being over-crowded though, but if you walk for 10 or so minutes then you can find yourself a nice, deserted spot.

As for accommodation options, you will not be disappointed. Mae Phim has everything from simple guest-houses to five star luxury hotels. Vacation rental homes are a particularly popular choice - they allow you to stay in a fully furnished home that is right on the beach-front. There are some truly fantastic homes available to rent - private swimming pools, several bedrooms, widescreen TVs, etc.

On arrival, and having unpacked your bags, you should take a stroll around the town center. It is charming and authentic, and has everything that you could want. You will find all of the amenities that you would expect from a first class tourist destination, but rather than dominating the area, they sit in harmony with the traditional Thai aspects of the town.

The food is wonderful, the bars are great for sipping cocktails in as the sun comes down, and the shops are perfect for picking up unique souvenirs for your friends back home. You will adjust to your new surroundings in less than a day, and having met some of the locals you will quickly feel at home. Who knows, you even be tempted to make Mae Phim your second home!
