Car maintenance is a great way to make your yearly MOT a whole lot cheaper. Check these basic parts of your car and hopefully, by maintaining these things, you will save money.
Water levels. Check the coolant levels and top up when the engine is cold. Check the antifreeze too as this will stop the waterworks from freezing over at the first cold snap. It is however important all year round as it also prevents the corrosion of the internal working s of the car.
Tyres. Check for any cuts on the side walls of the tyres or any slow punctures that could cause your tyre to deteriorate. Check the spare tyre, as If you need to replace one you will need it.
Screenwash. Check and top up your screen wash on a regular basis, as water by itself wont clear any grime thrown up by the road. It's a legal requirement that the screen wash system works so keep an eye on it.
Power steering. Make sure that the reservoir is topped up, and use only the correct liquid recommended.
Lights. Check your lights weekly as you rely on them. Check fog lights and indicators too. Wipe a cloth over the outer casing to keep them clean and bright.
Windscreen. Check the windscreen for chips and cracks as these can get worse if you go over a bump it could shatter completely.
