Major Myths in Network Marketing (Part II): As Soon as You Find Your "Why", You Will be a Successful Network Marketer

If you are currently active as a network marketer, or have ever been, I'm sure you have been present for a pep-talk or motivational speech from a top producer of your organization. The gist of most of these conversations are concerning your "desire", your "want to", or finding your "why?" Now, do not misunderstand me, it takes WORK to build any successful business. Anyone who tells you anything different is not being truthful. However, simply teaching people that they can be rich if they just put their noses to the grindstone and simply play the "numbers game" of recruiting is not being completely truthful either.

The fact of the matter is that this "old school" way of approaching network marketing cannot ensure results. It is very difficult to track the efficiency of your efforts or to build duplication within your downline. Furthermore, if you look up 3-4 years from now and you haven't reached your goals, the leadership of your opportunity will likely tell you that you just have to keep "working your numbers" and not to give up. The reality is, in order to grow your business and to produce results that can be tracked and duplicated, you need the PROPER TOOLS. If we both have the desire to cut a tree down, even if your desire to cut the tree down is somewhat greater than mine (even though that is pretty much impossible to measure), if I have a chainsaw and you have a butcher knife, I will most likely be more successful than you. Why? That answer is obvious; it's because I have a better TOOL. Even more importantly, since TOOLS are tangible, I can tell how affectively my tool is working, and I can even change tools if I think it would help.

Now you may be asking, why didn't the same person who gave me the pep-talk tell me that I needed tools to be successful? Well, that sort goes back to the myth that I addressed in Part I. That myth is the myth that "everyone can be a successful network marketer." If everyone who may sign up to be a representative for the company was is told that they must develop themselves as marketers and entrepreneurs by having a serious marketing strategy, many of these people would run for the hills. So rather than scare off countless prospects, many top producers just pay full focus to an element that is almost impossible to quantify, and that element is desire.

The truth is simply this: building a business, whether it is a network marketing business or any other business, requires some serious effort. You will obviously need motivation to want to put forth the effort that it takes to be successful, but effort alone is not the answer. A multi-faceted marketing strategy that is constantly being improved that goes along with the effort is what your successful business will be built on. So, make sure you spend time learning and developing your marketing strategy. Your success depends upon you finding the right people by using the right tools, and then teaching those people how to use those same tools to build successful businesses of their own.
