Rehabilitation is a process in which the patients are given mental and physical therapy in order to cure their diseases or disorders
. The main aim of these therapies is to bring back the patient to their normal form or state. Basically it plays an important role in treating patients from the state of trauma, mental problem, heart attack, hearing problem, loss of eyesight, any type of injuries, fractures, etc. In this treatment process, the patients are given personal attention and are monitored all the time. There are various types of rehabilitation program that are given to the patients on the basis of their condition.
Let us have a look at some of the different types of rehabilitation therapy/programs that are given to cure patients.
Physical rehabilitation- This type of therapy is given to patients who suffer from injuries caused due to accident. This may include fracture of bones, muscle tear, etc. This process involves exercises that will help to strengthen their muscles, maintain flexibility and reduce pain to a great extent. This therapy may differ from one person to another as well as depending upon the age and sex of the patients. It also includes yoga, aerobics and other physical exercises.
Occupational rehabilitation- The main aim of occupational rehabilitation is to help the patient in managing their daily duties and work. Let us suppose a person who finds it difficult to walk. In such a case, this therapy helps the person in learning how to walk with the help of walker and then without the walker. Other activities related to day to day activities may include dressing, eating, talking, etc., to help the patient enjoy his / her social life.
Cognitive rehabilitation- This is a therapy given to patients who suffer from brain/head injury. Counseling, meditation, and Yoga are some of the activities that are related to this therapy. This will help the patient to return to their normal form.
Respiratory rehabilitation- This therapy is helpful during the breading process. After certain vital surgeries, this therapy is given to the patients as there is a risk of respiratory complication.
Aquatic rehabilitation- This is a new type of rehabilitation that has been introduced for the treatment of joints. This therapy includes swimming, aerobics, etc. The main aim of this therapy is to provide strength to your bones and joints.
