Basically, if your niche blog is converting well for you and you have been earning

some good affiliate commissions it is time to look at investing in some PPC.

The 3 major advertising networks for PPC are Google, Yahoo and Bing. It's always best to start with Google and if a campiagn is successful roll it out to Yahoo and MSN as well; the techniques for advertising on the different networks are very similar.

The key to PPC is relevance, I'll say that again so you don't miss it THE KEY TO PPC IS RELEVANCE

Google gives all ads a quality score, if you have a low quality score you're cost per click will be higher and in some circumstances Google won't display your ad at all. Google determines quality scores based on relevance, Google wants to know that your ad is relevant to your landing page; the more relevant your ad, the more clicks it will receive and the more money Google makes...they're not stupid you see.


So how do we make an ad relevant in Google's eyes?

Google Takes into account the following criteria:

Keywords in ad title, keywords in ad text and keywords in destination url and compare it the landing page title, meta keywords, H1 tags, H2 tags and content.

So if your niche was a Bass fishing guide, you may have the following keywords:

Bass fishing guide

Bass fishing tips

Bass fishing secrets

Bass fishing tactics guide

Guide to bass fishing

The common word here is 'bass fishing', make sure it is in as many of the above criteria as possible and you ad will get a good quality Google score. This may seem like a pain, but Google is actually doing you a favour, by setting up your ads this way you will attract targeted traffic which will convert better.

One more important thing to look at when applying PPC to a niche blog is the landing page. In our experience a simple review page works best, featuring 3-4 products (all with your affiliate link). Reviews always convert better than normal posts on a blog and when you're are paying for clicks you want the traffic to convert as high as possible!

Another useful tip for PPC campaigns is too always test different ads. Try 3 different ads, after 2 weeks or so replace the worst performing ad. Keep replacing the worst performing ad and testing new ads,finding the best ads that convert for you can have an amzing effect on your ROI!
