Make The Switch Before It Is Too Late
There are few UK homeowners who have not been affected by the announcement that several of our major energy suppliers will be raising their prices
. So far, British Gas, Scottish Power and npower have each dealt a blow to their customers and it is only a matter of time before others follow suit.
Of further worry to the average homeowner are predictions that temperature levels are set to drop sharply by the end of this week heralding the beginning of a harsh and cold winter ahead of the clocks going backwards this weekend. This means those hardest hit by energy bills can expect to pay a small fortune to heat their home unless they find a more affordable tariff and install double glazing in Blackpool, double glazing in Fleetwood or double glazing in Lancashire.
There is still time to find a cheaper tariff but you need to be quick as many of the most competitive tariffs are disappearing due to a huge amount of demand as others look to secure gas and electricity at a low price before the cold snap hits.
To find these packages it is recommended that you go online as most commonly the cheapest deals can be found via the internet. Phoning around the many suppliers that are out there can take an enormous amount of time, energy and expense.
If you have never switched before you could save up to 300 pounds by doing so, with those who have switched previously also likely to secure a discounted deal. You can save extra money by reverting to online billing and taking out a dual-fuel package as most suppliers will reward when you take this route.
Once you have settled on a new tariff and the switch has been made make sure that from the word go you provide your new supplier with a regular meter reading as estimated bills can often be inaccurate and do not fairly reflect the energy your home consumes. The last thing you want is to be paying more than you need to particularly at a time when energy bills are at their highest ever cost.
The onus is also on you to not waste energy. Deploy energy-saving measures in your property so that whenever your boiler is utilised all heat produced goes to good effect. This will help keep your finances in check and give you less reason to feel the pinch.
