Make Your Home Look Bigger
Pack rat much? Come on kid, to really get the most out of your house you have to
clean up your act! Once you do you'll be surprised at how much space you really have.
Its almost impossible to keep your home looking perfect and beautiful all of the time these days. Having kids, as many of my readers know, makes it even more difficult. So I'm going to try and make it easy for you.
Pick one room, definitely not the messiest, and start there. Only focus on that one room and only move on when you've finished and given it a rest for a few days. Have lots and lots of boxes on hand and get ready for some serious karma-getting behavior. If you have something garage sale worthy, by all means you should sell it. But if you're coming across old sweaters, books you don't read and certainly don't want, old toys and the like, throw it in a box and drop it off somewhere where it will all go to good use. Karma (ahemwinning Extreme Makeover) will be well on its way!
To simplify the daunting and difficult task of sorting through what you want, what you want but don't need, and what you just can't stand to look at anymore, can take time. Make a checklist and sort items by how much room they really take. Old boxes of clothes? Get them out of there! Figure out what you really need and what adds aesthetic or emotional value to your home, and remove everything that detracts from that.
Many of us wait until we move before we even think about taking on a task of this magnitude, but trust me, youll feel much better after you de-clutter no matter what your living situation is. Open up your space and take back your own storage! Spring time is the perfect time to tackle these seemingly nasty projects. I'll be starting mine this weekend!
