Depending upon your budget, you can have a gym at your home which can be basic or can have many advanced equipment. Keep in mind that whatever benefits you derive out of strength training exercises at your gym can be achieved with the help of dumbbell and barbell weights. You can buy a bar with interchangeable weights to do all the cardio exercises at home. Dumbbells are the most important part of a fitness regime and they make your home gym complete.

Buy an inexpensive bench with different angles to incline and decline the bench. This bench can help you do all the strength building exercises. You must purchase weight lifting gloves to protect yourself as there can be mishap while lifting weights. Other things that are important and you must have are the weighted balls, exercise mat and stretch bands. One large ball that is used for aerobics and which can be inflated and deflated is a good addition to your gym. This ball provides lot of relief after hard workouts and improves your balance.


Cardio exercises are a must for a complete workout and you can purchase a jumping rope and a punching bag for the purpose. These two items increase your stamina and also increase the heart rate. Of course you would need punching gloves for punching the bag. If you can spend a little more money, exercise bike would be a welcome addition to your home gym. You can buy second hand treadmill and elliptical machines for building up strength.
