Special effect make up - Open wound.

Okay guys, I am going to do an open wound on a hand just to give you and example of what my specialities are in this area are like.

First you apply the wax in the size and shape of the desired area of the wound. Then you place down your pre-shapped wax in the area of the wound, and from there its practically blending again with the blending tool.

And as with previous articles we basically blend the wax into the skin, but this time we need to carefully blend from the top of the wax down into the skin. Gradually and very gently blending here so it looks almost as if the wax is part of the skin. Once it has blended down into the skin, just remember to remove any excess wax from the area.

Once that is done get some vaseline and wipe around the outside area of the wax area to eliminate any rough surfaces or not going to stick to any other products.

Then we add the colour to the wound to give the depth to the area. To do this you will need a "bruise wheel" which is similar to the camouflage wheel, the main difference here however is that it has darker colours.

Just paint it on in the middle of the wound, and highlight the area with a darker colour to give more depth and a more realistic look. After that comes the fun part where we move onto the fresh scab and the blood. Using a stipple brush, I just go over the outside area of the wound and "rough" it up a bit. A stipple brush will give it a more real look instead of being one flat colour, it will spread out the wound a bit. Blend this to give a "raw" look around the area of the wound.

When you have finished the base coat, its time to apply the more gel like substance of the scab, just to give it that more realistic and "wet" / "fresh" look of the scab. Apply this to the middle of the wound.

And that should give you one nice very fresh open wound.
