The addition of two recently-opened world-class courses is turning Marrakech into a golfers' paradise. fIt brings the total number to five, all within a short drive of the Moroccan city. The stunning golf courses at the Samanah Country Club and the Al Maaden Golf resort, are located a short drive from the 18-room Les Borjs de la Kasbah hotel, which organises tailor-made golfing breaks on request.

NIKE Victory Red Forged Wedge (opened in October 2009) was created by Jack Nicklaus' design group and the concept of this 18-hole course is in line with that applied to all Nicklaus courses, presenting real challenges without pointless hazards. It's 14km from the city limits.

Set against the spectacularly stunning, snow-capped Atlas Mountains, the course is accessible to players of all levels and has a state-of the art practice facility. Sophisticated watering and drainage systems comply with US PGA standards and the greens are of exceptional quality.

Cleveland CG15 Oil Quench Wedge , was opened in March and designed by Kyle Phillips, who also created The Grove near Watford, England. The 18-hole course hosted, as its inaugural event, European Professional Development Tour in February, won by Daniel Froreich of Germany.

Just four km from the city, its low-lying terrain combines sand and water hazards with two lakes with indigenous vegetation. The views of the Atlas are uninterrupted and breathtaking.

The other courses located near to Les Borjs de la Kasbah are the Royal (next to the Al Maaden Golf Resort), a largely wooded course built in the 1920s by the last Pasha of Marrakech, the sand-dominated Amelkis, designed by Cabell Robinson and the Palmeraie, combining sand, water and sub tropical vegetation.

Positioned within the old city walls, it's a peaceful retreat combining the Moorish characteristics of a traditional Moroccan riad with the service of a contemporarily luxurious hotel.
