Making Dreams Come True!
Pursuing Your Dream of Acting?
Pursuing Your Dream of Acting?
Probably everyone has thought about being an actor at some point. Lots of people have dreamed of modeling. There's serious appeal to being on TV or walking the runway and getting money to do that. But it's not easy. There's a lot of work required, and the first step is finding a good agency to help you chart your course.
A lot of agencies will be glad to take your money and run. So finding the good ones in the mix means getting down to some serious research. Trusting the wrong group can lead to heartache and lost money, so this is the time to really be critical in your pursuit of the right agency. Because that makes all the difference.
Where to Begin?
It should be obvious, but any agency asking for signing or registration fees upfront does not have your best interests in mind. They're looking for your money. Real agencies are going to be fully licensed, they're going to want to work with you without demanding money, and they're going to have a client list including names that you've actually heard of -- not somebody's cousin's nail salon.
Now it's time to ask yourself the question all rising stars ask. What the heck do I want to do? Do I want to strut down a runway? Lend my voice to radio? Do I want to make a name in some crazy music video? Or aim for the lights of television and film? This is a conversation you'll want to have with your agency now, so they can point you to the right casting directors. But you don't have to decide now; just get a few ideas in your head for when you meet the agency.
Be Real!
Perhaps you're asking yourself whether you have the right look for modeling or acting. Truth is, talent agencies are always looking for real people, faces you see out your window every day, to send to casting directors. It's not all exotic faces that become successful; more often than not it's one like yours, whether you're a baby or a grandparent.
Don't fret if this all seems like too much. Do your homework, find the right talent agency, and it'll get a lot easier. Because there's still headshots to think about, casting directors to meet, auditions to conquer. All of it adds up to hard work, which if you're willing to put in means that at some point, the cameras are going to start pointing your way.
