Making Money Online - Determining the Legitimacy of a Site

In today's economy, making money is definitely no easy task for a large portion of the population. And as a result, thousands and thousands of sites offering "free prizes" are borne and a lot of those sites turn into breeding grounds for scamming potentials. But not to fret (yet), there are a couple of methods and places in which you can get started safely.

1. Detect legitimacy via forum

It's time to go forum lurking. More often than not, a site offering free prizes and cash will have a public forum, or message board, for member support. By reading the forums, you'll be able to determine whether or not the service is legit or fake (popularity of the site is key). How is the member support? What are people getting in the prizes? How many posts are there? The more the better. It is very unlikely that a single being would go through that much time to fake an entire popular message board and its thousands of members and contents/threads. Get a feel for the service before deciding whether or not it's worth the time investing in it.

2. External online reviews

Next, find reviews about the service at other websites or forums. You're essentially getting a second opinion based on your first derived from the forums. And often times, this is the deal-breaker. You will probably find more mixed reviews on a website whether or not it's truly legit. This may alter your opinion once and for all.

3. Does the service require a deposit?

Now that you've determined whether or not the site seems real or fake, you're ready to join. Except you realize that you have to deposit a 10-dollar fee for even using the service. Stop right there: be extra careful with these sites. Unless they're featured on some credited news web-page or famous TV show, very few of these sites happen to be real and for those that ARE scams, it is always a result of some consequence that you missed reading in their fine-print, 2-point font disclaimer. For beginners, it's better to stick with free member registration; i.e. the only thing you should be investing into the site right now is your time. Some of these free sites include paid-to-click sites, survey sites (for example: RebelBucks, SwagBucks), or traffic exchange sites that offer free cash as well (EasyHits4U). This way, you've got nothing to lose.

Finding the right money-making website can be difficult, but it's very do-able, and the rewards even
