Making Moving Easier 101

A big move can get a bit overwhelming and we understand better than most

. There are tips that we have come up with over the years and we would like to share them with you. Making it easier with pods and organizational skills makes a move easy as pie.

Readying for the Move

The most important thing to think about when moving is organizing. The first step is to go through everything you have and separating it into two piles. One pile will be that in which you keep and the other will be what you either want to give away or throw out. It may be best to have three piles assuming there is a lot you would like to give away. Purging is a big step of letting go of the past and can be very cathartic.

Now that everything has been separated, it is time to go through the pile of stuff that you do not want to bring with you on your move. Is there anything that you would like to sell? You could go the way of the yard sale, or you can find a place to sell your higher end belongings that you no longer have a use for. It is always good to earn a bit of extra money when making a big move, so why not take advantage of it? If you have higher end items, look into how much you can sell them for on eBay. It tends to be a decent rake in when you do it that way.

Take the rest of your stuff and concentrate on organizing it in order of the room that it needs to go in. Go get some boxes and a decent magic marker and then get to work. It isn't hard to find free boxes at certain businesses. For those that have some serious collections, make sure that you get all materials necessary for fragile items and put them in their own boxes. We aren't saying that you should put one piece of the collection in each box, just keep everything together. Make sure that you write Fragile on all boxes that have breakable items in them. This will make those moving the boxes more mindful of how they are carrying them.

Moving furniture and appliances will be one of the hardest parts. Plan ahead by either getting movers or some strong friends to help you out with the move. There are plenty of ways to pay your friends. Many of my friends would just be happy with a pizza and something to drink. This is probably true for your friends, too. It ends up costing you a lot more in the end should you decide to hire professional movers.

If you have a business and a lot of merchandise that you store at home, you can use structures that are built to be moved as needed. Moving pods are very helpful. They have more than enough space for your merchandise.

Time to move:

Is it finally moving day? Great! Organize your workers and make sure that you give them time to take breaks and do their jobs without overtaxing their bodies. If you have a lot of heavy lifting needed, make sure there are enough people willing to help out. Use your moving pods for other types of storage and your move should be made much easier.
