Making The Most Of A Table Top Display: Tips To Make Your Showcase Stand Out
Having a small space for your exhibit is difficult enough
. Working with a tabletop space only can seem like an impossible challenge. It may seem like you have limited control over your presentation, and that your space is difficult to organize at best. Many companies choose to work with a professional design company precisely because this is such a challenge, but there are some tips you can use to get the most out of your space no matter what you choose for the actual table top display design.
Brainstorming Your Small, Highly Portable Display
If you are facing a table top display situation, the first thing to check is the guidelines published by the event host. What are the exact dimensions of your space? How much room do you have, down to the last square inch? What are your vertical limitations, if any? In any situation where you have limited room for an actual exhibit, you need to think outside the box.
It is not uncommon for your space to be relatively limited in terms of length and width, but have fairly relaxed height dimensions. Events are often held in tall buildings, which can permit a very tall - and very eye-catching - style of portable display. Also be sure to ask about the availability of bonuses like electricity or water hookups. Organize your portable display to take best advantage of what's around you.
Think Outside The Traditional Table Top Display
Just because you're working with a tabletop doesn't mean you need to create a showcase reminiscent of the science fair. Use bright colors and create a professional-looking informational poster. The poster must clearly establish that you mean business. You need to stand out.
In many cases, standing out is most easily accomplished by departing from the traditional informative poster board format entirely. Do you have a small product? Bring samples that people can try. If your product is too large for normal tabletop use, bring something to display for trade show visitors that is scaled down. The display for trade show use does not need to be fully functional, but the more closely it mimics your actual product, the better. If your product is something that is used up by the customer, try to have free samples. If you aren't representing a product that can be used or eaten, add something that can be. Popcorn is a great attraction and, if properly selected, a popcorn machine takes up relatively little table space. You may also be able to put it behind the table - which has the added benefit of forcing visitors to speak with you before partaking.
Having A Well Organized Exhibit is Key
The ultimate trick to having a great tabletop exhibit is to have everything very deliberately organized and ensure that it stays neat during the day. Ideally, you want to produce a base that will hold any bowls or products that you put on the table. At a bare minimum, you should provide some kind of covering for the actual table surface, Having the table showing through at the base of your exhibit makes it look unprofessional, and visitors will ignore your exhibit. With smart touches and enough creativity, even the smallest tabletop space can shine.
