Making The Move To India
It is becoming more popular to move to India these days
. Politically, economically and globally, the country has become quite powerful. It is now the 2nd largest in the world, with enough people to make up 17.3% of the world's population. China is in first place, but even there, only has 2% more citizens than India. With this large number of people and more on the way, it's easy to see why the country has become a popular destination for those willing to relocate.
It's true that nearly 70% of the people in India live in rural areas, but with the large amount of people moving into the country, that is quickly changing. The three largest cities of the country have populations in the millions - Mumbai has 13.8 million, Delhi has 12.5 million and Bangalore has 5.4 million. The modernization of these countries has continue to expand as more educated business people have moved into the country and taken advantage of the resources that were already there.
It can be quite a challenge to move to India because of the many differences in culture and lifestyle. However, it's best to not have preconceived ideas when moving to another country. Those things that you feared may never come to pass, but you can expect to have some unexpected surprises as well. Don't expect things to be the same as your present country. It would be terribly expensive and disappointing to try to live the American lifestyle in India. It's a different life, so just plan for that.
Make every effort to learn as much of their language as you can. This is make the transition a little easier because you will be able to communicate with the people. Take the time to learn about their culture, their food, their dress and their habits. In a foreign country, you must plan to live as the natives in order to fit in and make the area your new home.
You also need to consider what to take along with you when you move. You will have ship most of your larger household items on a cargo ship. It's important to contact international shipping companies to get rates, answers to questions and find out which company will be able to give you the best service. If you have any unusual items to ship, such as a vehicle, you need to let the shipping company know that so they can give you the best information for your needs.
Due to preconceived notions, people worry about food, education and sickness when moving to India. They are often surprised to find that the climate, professionalism and cuisine of India are actually quite desirable and enjoyed by expatriates. On the other hand, moving to a new country can bring some culture shock, no matter how prepared you are, as well as some loneliness.
When moving to a country like India, it's best to remember to be flexible. There will be good days and bad days, along with a wide range of emotions. Take one day at a time and remember that the longer you are there, the move accustomed you will become to the ways of the land.
