Making Your Workplace 'green'

In order to keep the planet as beautiful as possible for generations to come

, it's no wonder that we're all trying to do what we can to help protect Mother Earth. Not only do we have to pay particular attention to our homes and the ways in which we can be greener, we also have to consider the workplace This is especially true if you're a business owner; and luckily, the vast majority of the time being green means saving money!

If you want to reduce waste, save energy and try and transform your workplace into an eco-friendly one, here are a few tips to get you on your way. Read the following tips to help you get started:

*Most of us use far too much paper in our everyday tasks. If your workplace uses lots of paper, this tip may be of use to you. Before you go to recycle your paper, group together 40 or 50 sheets and cut it into quarters. Attach a large clip to the top of each stack and this can be used as a notepad. Once you have finished with your notepad, you can recycle the paper and re-use the clip.

*Do you receive lots of letters and packages in the post? Perhaps you receive large items in packages that could easily be used again if you are careful when opening them. Just attach a new label to the front of it over the old one and stick some tape on the back if needed, to secure it.

*Get rid of plastic cups! What this means is the type of cups that you use to drink coffee or water and then throw away. These can produce an incredible amount of waste as countless cups can be thrown away per day. Try bringing your own mug into the office; not only will you get a bigger cup of coffee from the vending machine, it will look much nicer!

*Turn off items which are not being used. Bad habits develop in any office but one in particular is leaving items on standby such as a computer. Most companies usage will be high so try and keep an eye on your electricity usage. Contact a business electricity supplier about the best deal for your company; you should be given a tariff which is based on your usage which will save you money.
