Making a List and Checking it Twice

By the time Thanksgiving arrives, many people are already thinking about Christmas

. Hoards of people start their shopping on the day after Thanksgiving, while others start their decorating. For those who don't start all the activities quite so soon, they may at least start their planning.

Part of the planning is preparing the list of family, friends and acquaintances to whom you wish to send Christmas cards. A great way to prepare this list is to start with last year's list. Another option is to compare it to those people who sent cards to you last year. Or, you could compare the two lists and make a new one that includes everyone from both. Make your list and check it twice!

Once you have your list complete, you know how many Christmas cards you need to make or buy, depending on your preference. Every family has their own traditions when it comes to sending Christmas cards. This might mean that the kids make the cards that you send out. Or, you might go the family photo card route. Whichever way you acquire your cards, you might want to consider making sure you have a few more than the number of people on your list. You never know when you might need an extra card. When you think about it, the cards aren't all that expensive, so having a few extra will not break the bank.

You can make your Christmas cards a family activity. Whether this is by hand making the cards or preparing them to be sent, by getting everyone involved it gets the Christmas spirit going within your family. And more importantly, it makes your kids feel special and like they have played an important part in your Christmas traditions.

You know how much fun it is to find a Christmas card in your mailbox. It makes you feel special that someone thought enough of you to send you a card. Be sure to keep that feeling in mind when you are debating whether or not to send a card to someone. With just a few minutes of your time, an extra card and the cost of postage, you could be making someone's day.
