Male Cosmetic Surgery And Why Cosmetic Surgery For Men Is Rising By Dr Lycka
Hi! This is Dr
Hi! This is Dr. Barry Lycka, host and founder of Inside Cosmetic Surgery Today on webtalkradio and YourCosmeticDoctor dot tv.
Today, I am writing about cosmetic surgery for men, and particularly the rising numbers of men getting cosmetic surgery. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, there has been a 14% increase in male cosmetic surgery in certain areas over the last year.
Now, what is driving this demand ?
Well, men are different than women. One of the things that's driving them to get this done is fear of losing their jobs. In this economy, that's a very realistic thing. So men are wanting to have a better 'look' and to stay young and to look young in competition with their peers. Another thing that's driving male cosmetic surgery is dress down Fridays. Before, they used to have to look great in a suit, now they have to look better despite how they dress in more casual wear.
Then there is a whole group of men called 'metrosexuals' out there that are getting more and more cosmetic surgery done.
Why?
They like to look better. They like to feel better. Men are using cosmetic products as well that they didn't use before. Very interesting things going on in that area. Even ordinary men want to look good and smell good for their partners and for others around them.
Now, what kind of cosmetic surgery for men is getting done?
The number one thing that they are getting done are cosmetic surgery procedures on their bodies.
Liposuction has gone on up 7% from last year.
When I started doing liposuction over 25 years ago, I used to see one man for every hundred women.
Now, it's close to one out of ten and I'm sure over the next few years, it will be one out of seven. In certain areas like California, it's already one out of five getting cosmetic surgery done and more and more are enjoying it.
Now, there have been some big advances in cosmetic surgery procedures. They can be done quickly. They can be done safely without much downtime. Many men I do cosmetic surgery on, such as liposuction, will have it done on a Friday and they'll be back at work by Monday.
Men are also getting more facial procedures done and they're getting more non-invasive procedures done such a Botox and fillers.
They want to look good too.
So what should you do if you want to get cosmetic surgery done and you're a man?
Well, check out a good doctor. It's very important to check out the best. How do you do that? Well, I have other articles on this subject, and some interesting radio interviews.
I've also written a book on this which will be going to the presses very, very soon.
I look forward to connecting with you and if you have any questions for me on male cosmetic surgery procedures, and would like further advice on keeping a younger and fresher look, please contact me via any of the methods listed in the "About the author" box below, ask your question, and I will be back with an answer for you !
