Male Impotence- Symptoms, Causes And Cure
In the middle of the most sensual setting with a beautiful woman on your side and
you feel no stirring in your body, this is a case of sexual impotence. It is a sexual inability to attain an erection or to maintain one. It is very common in the male of the species so much so that every 1 in 10 American male suffers from it. Sometimes a man doesnt realize his condition and sometimes conveniently ignores it. The most glaring symptom of impotence is losing an erection within minutes of achieving it or being unable to achieve one at all but there can be several causes for it and facing those causes makes it a lot easier for one to counter this problem.
To achieve an erection the tissues spanning the length of a penis, called corpora cavernosa needs to be supplied blood by the arteries and this process is put in motion after a message is sent out from the brain to the nerves in the penis through the spinal cord. Any sort of disturbance to this process or damage to the nerves or muscles may result in impotence. Another cause for it may be diseases like Diabetes, kidney problems, Atherosclerosis, Alzheimer, Neurological disorders, alcoholism, Multiple sclerosis and vascular problems. All these diseases hamper the blood circulation to the penis. Consumption of various medicines like those for high blood pressure, antidepressants and others can also be responsible for the problems in having an erection. However, while these are all physical reasons, the psychological condition of a man must not be ignored. Any sort of anxiety, depression and especially lack of confidence in sexual skill can very much be the reason for this problem. Smoking and low levels of testosterone may disturb the blood flow making it difficult to maintain an erection.
All these physical and psychological conditions may make impotence look like a ghastly circumstance beyond help, but it is not true. Impotence can be cured. Family history of the patient should be meticulously collected, blood and urine samples tested and a thorough physical examination makes it possible for the doctor to discern the reasons for impotence. Treatments range from surgery to plain and simple therapy. If triggered by psychological reasons impotence can be countered through drugs such as Vigaplus or some hormone medication. If a disease like Diabetes is responsible than proper treatment should be done, it always helps if such diseases are diagnosed and dealt with in their initial stages itself so that the problem of impotence wouldnt even occur. Sometime one has to resort to inflatable penis implants enabling a man to achieve an erection with relative ease. Vacuum devices are also used to intensify the blood flow to the penis but these treatments are like a last resort if all other options fail.
The best solution to the problem of impotence is taking a balanced diet and avoiding smoking and alcohol consumption. Maintaining a healthy mind along with a healthy body can reward you with an equally healthy and satisfying sexual life.
