Managed Document Review Teams Are Important

There are different things that happen when a company gets sued

. As soon as a lawsuit is filed, there is an evidence gathering phase. This is the time that managed document review teams are gathered. They are in charge of getting the evidence necessary for the case.

There are different people with different experience that make up a managed document review team. These teams typically have a lawyer, paralegals and sometimes law students. These people will take the time to sort through the almost endless amount of paperwork and records. They gather the key pieces of information and evidence that is needed. As it is discovered, they have to sort and submit it.

As soon as these law firms have gathered their teams, they need to make sure it is an organized team. Because of the amount of work that has to be done, organization is a critical skill. As these teams begin to work with one another, they each understand how they should be submitting information and staying organized. Without order, the clients suffer.

Once the team has been selected and gotten organized, they have to find a dedicated workspace for their group. This is something that is important for different reasons. As these people begin to work, they have to have a place to gather, share information and meet. This is a place that will help them stay focused on their case and not get distracted by other things that have nothing to do with their case or the evidence they are gathering.

A managed document review team also needs to have a manager. This is a person that takes responsibility for gathering all the information other team members have found, organizing it and submitting it to the lawyers handling the case. This is a person that also keeps the team organized and on track. The manager has many different responsibilities but it is a position that must be filled.

When these teams are organized and have a team leader in place, all team members should be told of their position and what they are responsible for. As these team members begin to work towards a goal, it's important they know what that goal is and how they relate to the team. If there is a team member that is feeling lost, they should immediately tell their team leader and get immediate direction.

It is important that updates are given frequently to the team and the team leader. As these teams begin to look for different pieces of information, they should tell what they have found. If there is a lack of communication, the search for evidence will stall and not help the clients that needs the evidence found. Once it has been found, team members should report it for everyone to know.

Millions of courtroom cases have been fought and won because of the dedication of managed document review teams. These are the individuals that have to find the evidence necessary to prove or disprove the case that has been filed. Cases can't be won if the document review team is unorganized and doesn't communicate.
