As the name suggests, you accomplished your work by ensuring that your subordinates carry all of their assigned responsibilities as opposed to you performing all of them on your own. Let us take an example. If you act as a manufacturing manager, your job is to see to it that all manufacturing employees carry out their responsibilities the way they are required to be. You are educated to run these machines; however you are not part of the "hands-on operation." Or, maybe your pal is a remarkably respected Software Dev. Manager who knows how to create programs like the back of its wings, but not necessarily involved in the coding process. In short, management jobs focus only on one thing and that's to manage.

It is relatively simple to split up managerial from non-managerial jobs. For example, if you work as the head cashier, lead welder, senior programmer or team leader, your role is not considered as one. The quickest approach to know if your job is one of those management jobs is when your duties aren't the same as other people you are working with or simply put, their job is not yours.

These very specific responsibilities exist in every known profession and industry. Whether it is a huge company or simply a newly start up company, there is always a reliable somebody to supervise the aspects of running the company and ensuring the smooth flow of the whole operations.


How do you meet the criteria?

If you wish to end up working in that position, you will need to remember two things. First, you have to be well-informed to the smallest detail of the job that your team is intending to accomplish. A great manager understands how to assign duties and at the same time able to accomplish them. Second, you have to have an unquestionable sociable skill that extends to respecting the group, learning from previous errors and understand how to motivate the staff.

How do you get it?

Managing people is never a simple task. It demands more than just the capacity to throw tasks down the line. To land on that job, you must start by gathering experiences and working your way up to the ladder. Unless your parents own the company, it is not going to happen in a single day. You don't wake up one day being the manager. Show the top management that you deserve a promotion and you command the respect of the people. You won't get any promotion until the top management sees that in you. Remember, there could be dozens of employees fighting for fewer management jobs position, so be competitive.
