Management Sales Jobs - Using The Resume And Cover Letter Effectively

Management sales jobs are exciting

Management sales jobs are exciting. If you like working with people mentoring and coaching it's a great position to have. For a sales person it's a great boost up the ladder, being promoted to manager. For those of us who have to apply for the job. We need to be able to make the difference between our past sales career and our new focus on what the management position requires from us.

What's the difference between sales and a management sales job? First as managers we won't be selling a product or service. We will be doing more of the coaching and mentoring of the sales force. Understanding that difference and how it puts us in a role of leadership will be well viewed in your resume and cover letter.

I found it considerably useful to go back to a resume and cover letter manual I had used with success to compose a well though out cover letter and resume that would bring light to the strengths I brought to the company. Carefully wording my cover letter to show professionalism and a degree of understanding towards the sales team and what their needs are helped me close the deal. I was selling again after all. To a different prospect!

I made sure to touch on my experience with meeting planning and involvement in accounts with sales people. Not just the happy ones but the ones that needed some smoothing over. I also explained my ability to communicate the board's sales expectations effectively and in a manner that motivated the sales team.

A management sales job requires us to review sales and marketing trends and evaluate to develop strategies to compete. We need to connect on a personal level with the sales people. Communicating the above through my cover letter, proved to be a factor in my serious consideration for the management position.

I do well with people. Otherwise I wouldn't have done well in sales. Managing sales people is not so different. They both are demanding and expect support and results. I've found a way to make these points the focus of my resume and cover letter. It has improved my results with job offers.
