There has been a large increase in the number of companies using duplicated CDs (compact discs) to increase their marketing reach

CD duplication, often referred to as burning, is the process of assembling source materialvideo, audio or other datainto the proper logical volume format which is then recorded or burnt onto an optical disc. At inception back in the 1980s, CDs were primarily used for commercially released music. However, the demand for music CDs has fallen dramatically over the past decade. As a result the nature of CD duplication has changed. Rather than music CDs, the product is now seen more as a very effective communication tool which can carry companies messages, such as marketing, presentations, promotions, technical data, and even, catalogues, to their target markets, and distributed very easily. Smart organizations have been using this technology for many years, harnessing the benefits of cheap CD duplication to effectively communicate their message.

CD/DVD duplication has replaced printed brochures for many forms of marketing communication and training purposes. However a disc attached to a printed brochure often augments its effectiveness as the consumer gets the message via the two media. CDs can be housed in cases or pvc wallets to the front or inside of brochures, technical manuals or free with magazines and trade publications as cover mounts.
