March Madness Top 10 Teams in 2011

Basketball fans across the country whether on college campuses, from business offices or their own homes are preparing for one of the biggest weeks in sports. You see, it's the start of March Madness where all a team has to do is string together 6 victories and they will be crowned National Champions. From Vegas to office pools at work, odds are being established and favorites chosen to win the whole enchilada. There will be tears of joy and of anguish as one by one favorite teams will either advance or be unceremoniously eliminated from the tournament. This years odds on favorites have been selected and we can now watch to see if Ohio State, Duke, Kansas or Pittsburgh can back up their lofty tourney placements or if upset minded teams such as San Diego State, North Carolina, Connecticut and Texas can overcome the odds makers and rise to the top. The thing that is so great about March Madness is that 68 teams begin the tournament with a chance to become victorious. Everyone starts out even with an opportunity to take home the grand prize. Starting this week basketball fans everywhere will all of a sudden start calling in sick for work or finding excuses to stay close to home or even schedule business lunches at Sports bars just for a chance to cheer on their favorite team and players. The teams this fan thinks will advance and have a great chance to win it all and the reason they should be hopeful are as follow:#1 Kansas - Playing in the Big 12, they have consistently shown the ability the win the big games this year. With a strong inside game as well as depth on the roster, they look to complete right to the end.#2 Ohio State - Fresh off their Big 10 tournament championship, the Buckeyes are primed and ready to make a run with the top big man in the country and a strong supporting cast. #3 Duke Any time you have Coach K at the helm, there is always a chance of winning. With arguably the strongest back court in the country (BYU would argue with that having the Jimmer and Jax act) and a talented supporting cast, watch for the perennial powerhouse to compete.#4 Pittsburgh - Probably the most athletic team in the field and having battled through the Big East, they will give almost everyone a fight.#5 Texas - A slight outsider and a team that didn't finish the regular season the way they would have liked, are ready to prove that the talent is there to compete with anyone. #6 Connecticut - Fresh off their 5 games winning streak to take the Big East tournament, they can't be counted out. Momentum just might be the key to this perennial power house contending.#7 Washington - Winners of the Pac 10 tournament, they too are a talented and young team coming on strong. With a solid head coach and coming off a win against a solid Arizona club, this team could be a dark horse to advance.#8 Florida - Always talent laden but unpredictable, this team is one to watch as another dark horse. Having made it to the pinnacle in the recent past, their coach knows what it takes to compete.#9 Kentucky - They are probably too inconsistent to make it through but never count out a Kentucky team.#10 San Diego State - With possibly the most talented front court around, if this team can pick up additional support from the guard line, they could surprise a lot of people. With a host of additional teams anxious to prove their worth, this year's cast of competitors should prove to be an interesting and entertaining group to cheer on. So, place your office pool bets, try and beat the Vegas odds and cheer wildly for your favorite team and players. Why? Because this is March Madness and anything can happen when only 1 game will make or break you.
