Marine Radio: The New Age Revolutionary Communication Need for Defense Purposes

For those who have a science background, or an information technology background, if any one was to ask them what they knew about radio, they would sure shot use their technical jargon to define radio and sure shot confuse the hell out of the person who asked this question. The result might be that the questioner would have been left with a very confused state of mind. Let us make things simpler and easier to understand, so that you can understand the basics of radio workings for better understanding of things around us it is shocking to see, but radio (some call it an outdated medium of communication) is all pervasive. The mobile phone we use, the phone system for answering bells, etc. are all examples of radio which we experience in our daily lives. This is because radio doesn't involve just way communication as people believe.

Radio is not just about listening to music on your favorite FM channel, but it is also used in various industries as well. Eg. The walky talkies used by personnel working in security organizations are nothing but radios with two way communication. The radio may allow simultaneous communication or may just allow one person speaking at one time (all this is done at two different frequencies), depending on the kind of a radio you have. There are VHF (Very High Frequency) radios used for defense purposes, for example the marine radio is VHF radio which allow more distance coverage etc. But even they have variations for the purpose of usage that is the same ship may have many different kinds of marine radios depending on the uses and the country stipulations and norms (because country safety is also involved here). For instance, in a ship a part of the ship, lets say the deck may use DSC (Digital Selective Calling) with a lower frequency for summoning the deckhand, and for communication with the coastal ports etc. the management could use a very VHF radio simplex or duplex depending on the need.

Thus we see that as stated above, we see that Radio mostly involves frequencies. So basically radio performs the job of transmitting signals by modulating the electromagnetic waves with frequencies below the frequencies of visible light. These waves can be transformed into sound or anything else (depending on the device) once it collides with an electric device.
