Mark Kumar - Google Search Engine Optimization(SEO)
After I learned how to create websites , the next step for me was to make it easier for my clients to find me on the web
. That's when I was introduced to Search Engine Optimization. Also known as: SEO. I knew little bit about SEO but I wanted to learn more. The more I learned about it, I found out that there is a science behind this whole seo process.
Before I started my own photography business, I didn't think much about Search Engine Optimization. Why??? Because I didn't know such thing existed. I just thought I would go to google.com and type in what I am looking for and google will do its thing and find me what I want. After all, isn't that what google is famous for??? I mean, google has these super computers that can search anything in just few nanoseconds. If you really think about it, it's pretty amazing. In just few nanoseconds you can have pages and pages worth of information for your keywords (words you typed into the search box). I found it to be very impressive!!! It made me wonder how do they do that (sounds like the tv show).
I started asking around and doing my own research and I found that google uses a specific formula to its search. For example, if I type in "Mark Kumar" in google's search box, the first thing google is going to do is check to see if there is a website name www.markkumar.com . Next, google will check to see if there is a url containing the keywords that I typed in. For example this url (http://www.markkumar.com/meet-mark-kumar) has "mark kumar" in it twice.
Next google will check the meta tags (title, description, keywords). First google will check to see if "mark kumar" is in the title tag. Second if it's in the description tag. Google only read limited amount of characters in the title and description tags. That's how it can return the search result in nanoseconds. If you are concern (like I was) about how many characters or words you should use, then use
Mark Kumar SEO or
Download Mark Kumar SEO.Third google will check to see if "mark kumar" is in the keywords.
Next google will check the webpage's body content. It will check to see if there is any text that says "mark kumar". Then google will check to see anchor text (aka hyper links) that says "mark kumar". Lastly, google will look at any heading tags and images (these have title tag and/or alt tag).
