Market Capturing Struggle Of Windows Phone 7

This new mobile phone operating system from Microsoft is considered a tactical move to dominate the market of smart phones

. The market is already dominated by iOS4, Android and BlackBerry. Windows Phone 7 is so changed that it provides no backward compatibility to Windows Mobile 6 series. Will it cause a paradigm shift among consumers, mobile manufacturers and app developers? With big investment and pragmatic approach by Microsoft, the system is believed to capture a big share in the future.

HTC, a long-time Microsoft partner, is already operating with five GSM models Europe and Asia: HTC HD7, HTC 7 Mozart, Windows Phone HTC HD 7, HTC 7 Surround and HTC7 Pro. Two smart phones of Samsung: Omnia 7 and Focus, and three models of LG: Quantum, Optimus 7 and 7Q are using WP7. The American counterparts are T-Mobile, Verizon, AT&T and Vodafone. The sets are slight variations of existing ones. No major breakthrough in hardware but total new looks of the screen.

The most distinguishing feature is its totally unique graphical user interface, no one carrying before Windows Phone 7. Hard critics confess that touch response and navigation have a noticeable look and feel, of course an edge over the competitors. Windows Phone 7 provides hubs for different activities like email, games, contacts and photos etc. This UI alone has the potential to attract a significant portion of the consumer. There is Strong social networking, Facebook and Twitter. Closer integration with Office Applications is a big attraction for those who need them on mobile. Xbox live is a great news for game lovers, playing where they want, and Zune HD music software.

There are some lacking features of interest to consumer which are available on Android and iPhone. The platform lacks copy-paste feature and multitasking which its competitors have. Third party integration is not that robust and glitch-free as that of Blackberry, Android and iPhone. Currently, there is not a big fleet of programmers to develop apps, but therell be when WP7 will receive an overwhelming response from consumer.

Although Windows Mobile 7 took a slow start in terms of sale smart phones, but as Microsoft fixes the big bugs and incorporates consumers demands, the upcoming months will see flood of WP7 mobiles. After all Microsoft is investing a billion dollars behind the OS with its decades of programming expertise. There are reports that contradict the spread of WP7, but its a new world of flavor, touch, look and feel. Itll definitely find big share in the market.
