I didn't always think about marketing as a coach. I was so skeptic about the idea before. I thought that the whole thing about it is just a waste of my time. Back then I had the idea that the only way to coach clients was the common salesperson's technique. Looking back to those days, I think I had that notion because I never really knew anything about it. I was one of those coaches who were ignorant of the benefits in marketing for coaches.

In reality, you really don't need marketing if you have skill. If you want to sell something, then go sell it to the world. Push friends and family to buy whatever service it is you are selling because you know they will cut you some slack and really buy it. Make as many phone calls you like to random people selling your stuff. You really can get by with these strategies, but this is not the easiest way to live. Harsh circumstances in the long run will make you quit eventually.

Life is easier and less stressful with the right marketing. Marketing creates interested leads that want to talk to you. No pushing needed. With a coaching marketing machine at your disposal, all you have to do is give good introductory sessions and get credit card numbers. Does this sound easy, or what? It IS easy and much less stressful than doing without this marketing machine.


Marketing for coaches is all about one thing: getting clients. Everything you think marketing is about can go out the window as long as you understand this one important truth. What part does marketing play in getting clients? Marketing generates the interested leads that you'll talk to and eventually turn into paying coaching clients.

The sales being made really depends on the sales part of your business. But you cannot dismiss the importance of marketing for coaches. If you cannot find prospects, you will never get a sale.

The first step to set up and execute your marketing plan is to decide which type of marketer you are. Are you an introvert? Do you like sitting in your room all day contemplating and staring into your computer screen?

Or do you enjoy socializing with lots of different people? Do you stand out in a group? Whatever type of marketer you are, there's one simple marketing plan. You should be completely honest on what type of marketer you are. If you ever want to succeed in your endeavors, don't ever try to be someone you are not.

As an extrovert, there are several very smart marketing options. The best one is networking and public speaking. Join networks that contain the types of customers that you're looking for. meet as many of them as possible and set up free coaching sessions with them.

Try to get in touch with the heads of the networks you are joining. Get them to be convinced in making you speak to the group in one of their sessions so you can talk about your expertise. Give free coaching sessions to them. This may seem like a lot of work but it's actually simple. A good extrovert strategy can give you a hundred or more leads per week because of your speeches.

As an introvert, all you need to do is find the same types of networks online. While the extrovert finds brick and mortar networks, introverts go on Facebook, Linkedin, Youtube, and Twitter, and join groups and 'friend' people that are likely to sign up for your type of coaching.

Try to find ways to give written informative articles, video, or audio content to people in your network. After the offering, get as many people to have free coaching sessions with you. You'd be surprised on how many leads you get overnight.

Whatever strategy you choose to use, you must have genuine generosity as this is one thing that every coach must have. By giving information and time wholly and free sessions without holding anything back you can have a lot of leads that you can try to turn around as clients in the future.

One more important thing to note for either of this strategy is time management. You can maximize your time by grouping tasks and other projects of the same nature together. Do this instead of multitasking. When you are working with your marketing, don't allow any distractions to get you out of focus. Nothing can be more important than your time in marketing.

These and other things can break your concentration and leave a lot of unfinished work. Sooner or later, your coaching business will stop growing. Don't allow any distractions what so ever. If people are getting disturbed at your concentration, just ignore them so they won't bother you again. This will show them that you really are dedicated to your work and should not be disturbed during your hours at work.

Sometimes, you can do all of these things perfectly but still fail. This happens if you are not fit with your chosen niche. To be more effective, choose a niche that you really are passionate about. Find a niche where you really are skilled and knowledgeable enough. This is how to get results in choosing your niche. If you go with a weight loss niche, you should be an expert on both dieting and exercise.

It's okay if you're not an expert right at this moment. Just start studying and learning right now, and by the time it really matters, you'll be a bonafide expert. Remember, you MUST become an expert in that special area, or your coaching business will not be sustainable with that niche. Remember, your passion and your genius will sustain your business? without these aligned with your chosen niche, you're out of luck and you'll never succeed.


Remember to be persistent. Calvin Coolidge wrote a famous quote that persistence will solve all the problems of the human race, and it will solve your coaching practice's problems as well. Find out what your biggest problems are in your marketing and sales process. Where are the weak links? Where do you lack skills? Where are you not yet producing results? Then be persistent every day in your endeavor to (slowly but surely) solve each and every one of these problems. It will take years to solve all of them, but that's why you'll be the successful coach at the end of this 'extra mile'.

Always keep in touch with what you love and what you know in choosing niches. Narrow them down until you can clearly pick out which niche or niches to use. Create your strategy for your niche and use either the introvert or extrovert strategies. Once a plan is carefully thought out and completed, all you need to do is the execution of the plan.

Keep on working with your plan for six months with no major changes. You will find that things will be a lot easier and less stressful. The marketing work that you have done has paid off and you will have a lot of coaching clients for you to have a better sustainable life.
