Marketing With Press Releases

Here, we are going to talk about press releases

. The good thing about good press releases is that it can give you more room to discuss your products and services and also to tell your readers why your merchandise is worth purchasing. There are many different distribution centers which can publish your press release to many different parts of the world.

Yet, without the following tips and tricks, most press releases fail to maximize their effectiveness and accomplish their goals. Here's some information that will help you with your press release:

Follow instructions.

Few marketers are actually aware that press releases do have formats and that the specifications of these formats can differ from one agency to another. It will save you a lot of time and hassle if you contact the publication agency you intend to use and ask them for a copy of the formatting regulations they require on all submissions. Do this before you actually begin writing your press release! Agencies today are strict, if a first glance at your text tells them that you have not followed their formatting requirements, don't be surprised if your press release is rejected, no matter how well written it is.

Be sure you write newsworthy content!

A great press release is not just another form of a sales pitch, it is an opportunity to discuss products and services in a way that readers feel that you are releasing great and exciting news to the general public. Answer the 6 questions of knowledge when writing: Who, what, when, where, why, and how?

Make sure and determine beforehand the message that you wish to convey in your press release and keep it in mind as you write it. Remember to choose a great and new topic!

Choose a very powerful beginning.

There are two things your readers will see when reading your press release: The first is your headline. Like the headline of a newspaper, it has to be eye-catching, attention grabbing, and build interest in the article. Think of it as if your press release is the Wall Street Journal, sitting on newsstands all over the country. What should a headline say? It has to make a passerby stop and purchase a copy. Second, the first paragraph of the press release has to be powerful. No matter how eye-catching the headline is, if you can't follow through and deliver the same level of anticipation and interest in our first paragraph, you could literally lose your readers Do not rely completely on the headline to hold your reader's interest.

Make sure your press release is conversational and professional.

Keep in mind that your readers will likely be average, everyday people with busy lives and dozens of worries on their minds. They don't have time to try and decipher your message or to understand different jargon. Talk to them like you were having a conversation with them, make it as simple as you can to understand it.

Maintain professionalism by avoiding the all to frequent habits. Such as typing all in capitalized letters, using lots of exclamation marks, emphasizing too many words with bold font and especially the ever popular no-no's such as lol, j/k or :) (the font based smiley faces).

Edit your press release.

A true press release should be based on facts, not opinions. You may need to be self-aware in order to distinguish the one from the other, but it is important. Statistics, figures, and direct quotes always make for a powerful press release which should appeal to the masses. Avoid having a lot of descriptions or examples. Have a trusted colleague or friend look over your work to make constructive suggestions before you submit it to a publishing agency.

Make sure and provide access to your Landing Page.

No matter how well you write your press release, it is useless if you allow it to dead end by failing to incorporate a way for the reader to access your products and services. A Landing Page is a great way for your readers to take a step by visiting your online presence and purchasing your product or requesting more information.

If you don't have a web presence, you are at least a decade behind your competition and there is no time like right now to get caught up.
