Marriage Problems Result In Alarming Statistics By Totify.co.uk

Is this something you want to get into? Most men and especially women grow up with

a prime objective of finding the right person to spend the rest of their life with. They are imbued with the notion that to have a life with happiness and fulfillment it must include marriage and family.

Still many fear taking the plunge into marriage even though they desire a lifelong relationship and dread being alone. Perhaps they have watched their parents and friends

marriages fall apart and felt the agony caused by the splitting up. In the United States alone, more than one million children each year go through the pain of their own families marriage breakup.

The statistics on marriage and divorce are alarming. If you are over 18 years of age, there is a 25% chance you have already been divorced. Put another way, one in four American adults, 18 and over, are divorced.

In the early 1980s people of the United States experienced the highest number of divorces ever granted. This totaled over one million which led to a domino effect handed down to their children. Statistics prove that children who come from a divorced family are more likely to get a divorce in their lifetime.

Many people who dont want to be alone but are afraid to get married are living together.

In the last ten years, the number of marriages has declined while those living together, divorce and children born to unmarried couples increased. It seems one bad habit begets another.

Births to unmarried women jumped from 11% to 35% in the mid 1990s of all births recorded. The good news is the number showed little increase through the year 2000 but the sad fact remains that nationally almost one and a half million children are born out of wedlock each year.

In America, there were approximately 2.3 million marriages in 2004 and that number dropped by 50 million the following year. This in spite a total population increase of almost 3 million over the same period.

So, divorces in 2005 reflected the lowest rate in the previous 35 years. Obviously, when there are fewer marriages there are fewer divorces. Unfortunately, only 63% of children in America grow up with both biological parents. This is the lowest figure in the western world.

With these staggering statistics staring us in the face is the walk down the aisle still worth it? Consider these facts - Married couples live longer and are sick less. They suffer less often from depression and drinking problems and have a better financial status. You have to ask yourself if you are feeling lucky. Go ahead. Marriage may make your day.
