Martin County, Florida - A Spot In Paradise Is On Sale

The region has been the playground to the wealthy for some time, and while the economic turmoil has created ample buying opportunities, much of the old money in the region is more interested in swinging the golf club than taking risks in the real estate market.

The area lives up to its reputation as the Treasure Coast. Stuart Beach on Hutchinson Island, as well as Jensen Beach on the mainland, has some of the most beautiful ocean fronts in North America. The oceans, beaches and waterways in South Florida don't just harbor retired afternoon strollers, sport fisherman, boaters and young sun-bathers, either; they are home to a vast array of life including dolphins, rare manatees, and sea turtles. Jensen Beach is famous for its sea turtle egg habitat, and eco-tourists flock to the region to witness the midnight sea turtles lay their eggs during summer nesting season. Manatee- and dolphin-watching boat excursions are also popular in the area.

Martin County isn't all pristine beaches and golf courses. The nearby towns of Port St. Lucie and Palm City provide more urban and suburban cultural offerings. Port St. Lucie real estate buying opportunities abound, with beautiful condos and single-family homes available and amazing access to all that the region provides. The multi-cultural, vibrant city of Miami is also nearby. The Miami economy, still heavily reliant on tourism, has suffered during the recent recession. Although property values are on the decline, they have been stabilizing more recently and some choice properties are on the market. And in recent decades, Miami has bolstered its reputation as a gateway to the Americas. Billions of dollars of trade flow through Miami customs annually, and as the economy recovers, real estate prices will hopefully follow.
