Maruti got momentum with Alto K10

India's number 1 auto manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India has launched a new version of its highest selling small car Alto called Alto K10 in August 2010. Everyone knows that the Alto was the best selling small car among other brands of Maruti Suzuki. Now Alto is replaced by Alto K10. Its introductory prices will be around 3.03 lakh and 3.16 lakh. It is a simple car with a simple design that has all features like practicality, drivability, mileage, comfort and price, in a manner well-suited to Indian customers. It can be expected to have excellent re-sale value as well.

The Alto K10 with 1000 cc engine is clearly a great initiative from Maruti Suzuki. As far as this small machine is concerned, it has all ingredients to take up the legacy left by earlier model Alto. It looks small but promises better leg and head space, decent quality interiors with soild built structure. For people looking for a powerful compact car at a minimum price, the new Alto K10 is the answer. An interesting thing will be the consequences for the A-Star which features the same engine and costs higher by 67 thousand for VXi variant. Even the Wagon R and Estillo also have the same engine and have a price difference of around 67,000 or so on road. The price tag of this car is very low when compare to other similar cars.

Alto K10 will have a mileage of 20.2 kilometer per litre as per Automotive Research Association of India standards. Currently automatic cars are gaining momentum Maruti should have it in their stable long back to satisfy the need for a minority few. As the company's competitors Tata Motors and Hyundai Motor India are also planning to launch a similar car for the premium entry-level segment. Hyundai is planning to come up with a model that will be priced below Santro and Tata Motors is working on a model that will fit between Nano and Indica. Small cars like Ford Figo, Nissan Micra, Volkswagen Polo and Tata Nano were does not address Alto's market segment. As the rival launches are not due anytime soon so Maruti Suzuki will make the most from this opportunity.
