Maserati Granturismo Convertible: Drop The Top / Top The Rest

. The new Convertible redefines the market for open-top high end sports cars, offering both superior performance and four full-size seats.

Maserati has become well-known for elegance, outstanding quality and higher performance thanks to a continuous search for perfection in every detail, resulting in a unique Maserati experience for owners. This is the tradition that Maserati celebrates in launching the first four seat open-top car to emerge from the Viale Ciro Menotti complex in Modena, the first car with four comfortable seats and without compromising the unique, exciting handling of all Maserati cars.

The retractable multilayer soft top permits a huge range of color combinations while optimizing functionality, space and weight requirements. The soft top is available in six standard exterior colors (black, blue, burgundy, chocolate, titanium grey and java), complemented headliners available in black, beige and beluga grey. The durability of the soft top system has been demonstrated by several severe tests that exposed the roof to the most challenging weather conditions.

In designing the Maserati GranTurismo Convertible particular attention was paid to the rear passengers, who will enjoy uncompromised comfort not typically found in open-top cars. The rear seats are enhanced by a relaxed, 22 degree seatback angle that gives occupants an outstanding seating position unlike other convertibles. The GranTurismo Convertible's rear passenger seats are designed to ideally transporting two adults in ideal comfort.

Aerodynamic efficiency has been achieved thanks to the underbody components & body special designs that have been specified to maximize down-force while minimizing drag.

Maserati GranTurismo Convertible is so exhilarating to drive, immediately and predictably responsive to every driver input and eminently enjoyable also thanks to its balanced weight distribution. With the top up, 49% of the cars weight is carried by the front wheels and 51% by the rear wheels (48% / 52% with the top down).

The most powerful of Maseratis V8 engine is the heart of the GranTurismo Convertible. The engine features a 4.7 liters displacement and power delivery of 433 bhp at 7,000 rpm. The torque is reasonably flat and offers a maximum of 361 ft-lb at only 4,750 rpm. The engine cylinder banks are set at a 90 angle with four valves per cylinder.

The Maserati GranTurismo Convertible provides aural thrills thanks to its clever multi-setting exhaust system. The exhaust valve bypass is controlled in order to open only at over 3,000 rpm. This mechanism gives the car two distinct driving personalities: discreet and comfortable at low speeds, responsive and powerful at high revs with a remarkably enjoyable sound.

The performance-enhancing Limited Slip Differential is a standard feature common to all Maserati models. The mechanical system works in harmony with the Maserati Stability Program by providing torque to both rear wheels and, at the same time, allow maximizing the traction during acceleration and cornering. The limited-slip differential is developed and utilized mainly in motorsport, and it is especially effective in transitional handling situations such as powering out of a corner, where having an optimize traction and torque is a clear advantage.
