Maxamundo has this week 12th July 2010' implemented a Geocaching Tag type into its online application. It is hoped that this will attract the interest of the growing Geocaching community in the UK. The activity which involves a Location Based Treasure hunt see users download the location of Geocaches, the Geocaches can be hidden anywhere in the countryside or in towns and cities. They objective is to find the Geocache which is hidden at the location, this is sometimes easier said then done as the GPS device will only guild you to the general area and not the exact location. A Geocache is traditionally a sealed plactic box which will contain a log and items of interest, on finding the cache hunters sign the log and take an item from the cache replacing it with another object of equal or greater value.
The activity is currently very much family orentated promoting walking, exploring and a shared sense of community. Maxamundo hopes by implimenting a Geocaching tag set to research further and develop other concepts around Location Based Gaming.
Mick Lockwood Co-Founder of Maxamundo said We hope to facilitate the growth of Geocaching in the UK by listening to the community and really understanding what they what from an application, we also want to build features into are new IPhone application to make Geocaching even more rewarding and exciting for all those involved.
