The Maya Student Superpack is the software bundle of the high-end 3D animation (Free 3d model) and visual effects software of Maya Unlimited available from Autodesk.
What's In The Maya Student Superpack
The Superpack contains 4 pieces of software - each with educational licenses. Different places on the internet sell slightly different Superpacks, but in general they contain the following software:
1.) Maya Unlimited - which is the full working version of Maya just like the commercial version but with the only restriction that you can't make money from it. It contains all the usual modules that are available in the commercial version:
Maya Fluid Effects
Maya Fur
Maya nCloth
Maya nParticles
Maya Live
Maya Hair
2.) Motionbuilder - high-end real-time animation tool used in games and on movies like The Matrix
3.) Mudbox - high-end and texturing modeling tool that lets you import and export to Maya or 3d Studio Max. You can model and make sculpting iterations in layers for more flexibility.
4.) Toxik - compositing software allowing HDRI, Depth of Field, and mulit-layer OpenEXR format. Configured for 64-bit architecture too (Free 3D Model).
The extra bundled software in the Maya Student Superpack is only available to PC users as there are no Mac versions at present. The Maya Student Edition is available for PC and Mac users however.
All in all, the Student Superpack is a pretty good deal, since you're effectively getting 4 pieces of software for the price of one. It lets you get to grips with these other high-end tools which puts you in a better position when you graduate. They can also come in real handy when spicing up your final project and showreel.
How To Qualify For The Maya Student Superpack.
To qualify you'll need to be:
A High School, or College/University student currently enrolled,
A Full-time or Part-time member of educational staff or faculty or,
A School / University
Depending on where you buy the Maya Student Superpack you'll be ask for slightly different forms of ID to prove your educational status and eligibility for the Superpack. However, in general an emailed scan, digital photo, fax, or mailed photocopy of any of the following are acceptable:
Currently dated photo student ID Card
Currently dated photo Faculty ID Card
Currently dated class schedule with name
Currently dated letter from your school on your school letterhead
