Mazda Dealerships And Your Trade-in

It is hard for many people to understand exactly how to get a good deal when dealing with a dealership

. Sometimes the dealers are benefitting from the profits and other times just acting in the middle. The main ways that a dealer brings in money is through the sales of used cars and any customer trade ins. There are several factors that influence the price you will pay for your new or used vehicle at your local Mazda dealerships. These include the actual invoice price, the holdback, any incentives they are offering, supply and demand, and your vehicle's trade in value.

One of these is the invoice price. This is not what the car actually costs to the dealer. There is a small portion that is returned to the dealer by the automaker to help them pay their bills. This is the holdback and it is rarely negotiable.

Another thing to consider when you are negotiating the price with your dealer, is any incentives that they are offering at that time to any customers that buy either new or used vehicles. This is often low financing or rebates for a set amount of cash back. Just be aware that often low financing is dependent on excellent credit, which is not common among car buyers.

A vehicle's supply and demand is an area that varies from dealer to dealer and if you want a vehicle that is somewhat harder to find in your area you will pay a premium price and there will be less ability to negotiate. Some Mazda dealerships can get your particular vehicle from another local dealership. How many of a certain vehicle your dealer has in stock usually depends on how well that model sold the previous year or month.

Finally, the price that you are able to buy your vehicle for may also depend on the trade in value of your present vehicle. Keep in mind that your trade in value is the wholesale price, not the retail price, so you will more than likely be able to sell your vehicle to a private seller for a higher price. Sometimes a dealer who specializes in your make of vehicle will give you more than one who does not.

You should always shop around at several Mazda dealerships in your area, as there may be different incentives available. Different dealerships may also have different inventory offering you a different selection. Also, before you just take their trade-in, check the Kelley Blue Book value of your vehicle so that you can be sure that you are getting the absolute best value for your used vehicle.
